About Kateri
Atelier and all-round goddess Ruby Farley-Steere is one of those rare creatures whose taste is so immaculate, it makes you reconsider your own existence. Her brand, Kateri, which straddles both the fashion and culinary worlds, has been propelled into another dimension in the last couple of years. She’s hosted a rave-reviewed trunk show, ventured into the world of custom wedding dressmaking and collaborated with other Melbourne creative darlings Florian Home and Undressed. With Kateri growing into its own, it needed a glow-up to match; a brand identity that reflects the intricacy, craftsmanship and quality of Ruby’s work.
Every garment is meticulously handmade, so we created a brand that celebrates the beauty of imperfection. Loose threads weave their way throughout the identity as a visual nod to the handmade process and the hours of labour held within each piece. There’s an undertone of luxury, but it’s never precious it’s always balanced with a little bit of mess. Think of a perfectly crafted, pressed and folded garment sitting on a workbench, surrounded by the evidence of its making. A reminder that handmade can be luxurious, considered and deeply premium.
Luckily for us, we still get to slip in quietly from time to time helping with marketing collateral, copywriting, signage, a few illustrated flowers here and there and some social magic. A small but proud cog in this beautiful machine.
Secrets
Ruby is our favourite client. We know you’re not meant to say that out loud, let alone put it on the internet, but it’s true. She takes us back to our fashion roots, which we love to revisit every now and then, partly for the nostalgia, and partly because we like having something to brag about to our friends.
