About Form and Function

What a delight it was to work with an all-gal team making their mark in the building industry. They let us put pink on their worksite sign, and honestly, that little nod of approval was all it took to know we were working with the right people. A feminine touch on the building site? Yes please.

We designed the logo with subtle nods to architectural elements — archways, round windows and blocks that neatly slot together, with a cantilevered D balancing over the N. The friendly language and simple typographic styling reflect Donna and her team’s peppy personality, while pops of colour drive the point home.

The Form & Function website takes the same approach as Donna’s practice: let the projects do the talking, with just the right sprinkle of personality. Clean, considered and quietly confident, with enough colour and character to make it feel distinctly theirs.

And perhaps the best part of the whole thing is seeing the brand out in the wild. We get a little buzz every time we drive past one of their many job sites and spot that pink sign standing proudly amongst the hard hats, scaffolding and building materials. It feels like a small but mighty statement, a reminder that the building industry doesn’t have to look or feel one particular way. There’s room for pink, personality and a bunch of very talented women to make their mark. And we bloody love seeing it.
